If you’re craving bold takeout flavors without the wait (or the bill), this tasty Chinese American Cuisine recipe of Mongolian Ground Beef is your new any-day hero. It's sweet, savory, and ready in under 20 minutes. Serve it as it is for a Keto friendly meal, or over steamed rice or with noodles.

Here's What You'll Need to Make Mongolian Ground Beef with Vegetables
1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
1-2 tbsp oil (vegetable or sesame oil)
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
3/4 cup of water
1/4 cup of beef broth
3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
1/4 cup sherry wine (or dry white wine)
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
1 red onion, thinly sliced
1.5 - 2 cups broccoli florets
Cooked white rice or noodles, for serving
How to Make Mongolian Ground Beef - Chinese American cuisine recipe
Make the Sauce In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, beef broth, sherry wine, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside sauce for later.
Brown the Beef Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Add Aromaticsm Stir in the garlic and ginger. Cook for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant. (transfer to a holding dish and set aside)
Add Veggies Add the sliced red onion and bell peppers to same pan used for the beef. Sauté for 3-4 minutes. Then add broccoli and 2 tablespoons of water. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is just tender but still vibrant. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Combine Add in the cooked beef to the veggies and toss together.
Simmer Pour the sauce into the skillet. Stir well to coat the beef and veggies. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
Finish & Serve Stir in chopped green onions. Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with extra scallions and sesame seeds if desired.
